Clinical Boss Podcast
The Clinical Boss Podcast helps licensed clinicians (BCBAs, SLPs, OTs, therapists, and other allied health professionals) build a scalable business from the expertise they already have. Host Mellanie Page (BCBA, MBA) breaks down how to package your clinical knowledge into CEUs, online courses, coaching, and paid communities, so your income stops being capped by billable hours.
Each short episode covers one thing you can use right away: how to create and sell a CEU course, how to launch your first online offer, how to begin coaching or consulting, how to grow an audience of the right people, and how to market like a behavior analyst (because buying is behavior).
This isn't generic business advice that ignores your clinical background. It's the strategy, systems, and steps to turn your expertise into income and impact.

12. The Lead Magnet That Attracts Your Dream Client

Most clinicians have a lead magnet graveyard: a folder of freebies that went nowhere. The 40-page ebook nobody finished. The ultimate guide that took two weekends and got 11 downloads and zero clients. Those freebies did not fail because they were bad. A lot of them were genuinely useful. They failed because they were built to attract anyone, and the job of a lead magnet is to attract someone very specific. Mellanie Page breaks down the three things a lead magnet has to do, plus the gut check that tells you whether yours is good enough yet.
In this episode:
- The job is the right person, not the most people. A big download number feels great and means almost nothing. A pile of freebie collectors who will never buy is not an audience. A great lead magnet magnetizes your dream client and gently repels everyone else.
- The mistake Mellanie made with her own free CEUs: she loved making them, but she treated each one as a separate thing and never asked who it was for or what she hoped they would do next. People loved the trainings. There was no bridge to a next step.
- It delivers a real win in about 10 minutes. This is the one people get wrong by over-delivering. Anything much longer and you have accidentally built a course you are giving away for free.
- It has a through line to your offer. It does not have to be perfectly direct, but it has to be there. A freebie unrelated to what you sell pulls in people who want the free thing and only the free thing.
- The gut check that ties all three together: does it almost feel wrong to give this away? If you are not a little uncomfortable, keep raising it until you flinch.
- Three tests to run on your current freebie this week: the 10-minute test, the repel test, and the discomfort test.
This one is for clinicians (BCBAs, SLPs, OTs, therapists, and allied health professionals) whose freebie is pulling downloads but not the right people, or honestly not many people at all.
